One Day at a Time

I’ve spent the last couple days painting and it has been so nice. My application for “A Canvas of Silks” through Lex Arts was approved and I picked up my jockey statue last week. At this point I’m maybe a third of the way into the project which is pretty great since I have plenty of time but also a ton of other projects that need attention so I’ll have to paint in shorter sessions moving forward. I’ve been having an internal debate on if I want to do a process post once everything is done and my wife has convinced me to do one. I’ve been really tired of everything needing to be a sales pitch or a way to expand some reach toward monetary gain and I hate that every artist needs to be an influencer and educator to look official or professional and I’m trying hard to avoid that world. On the other hand I love sharing and talking about process and being available to other artists or curious fans so I’m going to show process in as informal of a way as possible in the spirit of community. Again, that’ll be later. For now I’m just enjoying a break from the heat and the opportunity to sit on the porch and watch paint dry.
